Do I need a Certificate of Occupancy to rent my condo or coop?

The answer to this question is a simple no

A certificate of occupancy is not required to rent a condo or coop unit in Washington, D.C. For housing purposes, a certificate of occupancy is needed when the property has more than one unit and only one tax ID. Although condo and coop buildings consist of multiple units, each unit is considered a separate parcel of real estate, which makes the unit exempt from the requirement.
