Before we can cancel your RentJiffy Registered Agent service, you must provide documentation showing that either:

All Basic Business Licenses associated with your account have been officially canceled, or
-
RentJiffy has been removed as the registered agent with the appropriate D.C. agencies and registrations.
Review the following sections to determine what is required based on the account ownership, instructions for how to complete the needed actions and what you need to supply to RentJiffy and how to supply it so we can close your account.
1: Determine What Needs to Happen to Close Your Account
🔹 If the Registered Agent Account Is for an Individual or Personal Trust:
If you’re no longer renting the property:
You must cancel your D.C. Basic Business License. (See instructions in Section 2)
If you’re still renting but want to switch agents:
You’ll need to update:

Your Basic Business License, and
-
Your Rental Accommodations Division (RAD) registration
to reflect the new registered agent.
🔹 If the Registered Agent Account Is for a Business Entity:
If you’re no longer renting and the business has ceased operations:
You must dissolve the business entity by filing Articles of Dissolution with the D.C. Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP).
If you're still renting but want to switch agents:
You must:

Change the registered agent for the business entity

Update the Basic Business License

Update the RAD registration with the new agent
🔹🔹 If You Have Multiple Properties Under One Account:
You must provide documentation for each property:

For sold or no longer rented properties:
Cancel the business license with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection -
For remaining rental properties:
Submit proof that the registered agent has been changed for both the license and RAD registration- If the account is for a business entity then provide an accepted filing filing indicating the registered agent has been changed with the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protections's - Corporations Division.

📌 Dissolving a Business Entity (Not Required for Individual Owners or Trusts)
If the business entity is no longer operating, file Articles of Dissolution with:

📌 Changing to a New Registered Agent
If you’re continuing to rent but want to switch from RentJiffy to another registered agent, follow these steps:
1. Update Your Basic Business License
Contact:

Once processed, you’ll receive a revised license showing the new registered agent.
Note: A license update fee may apply.
2. Update Your RAD Registration
File Form 2 – Housing Provider’s Amended Registration with:
D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development – RAD Division

You may be required to submit your updated business license with the form so it would be best to complete the license update first.
3. Update Your Business Entity (if applicable)
If your property is owned by a business entity, file Form RA-3 – Statement of Change of Registered Office or Registered Agent with:

This must be completed before you can update your license.
3: What to Send Us to Complete Cancellation
After you’ve canceled your license or switched to a new agent and all necessary updates have been completed, please email copies of the following documents to support@rentjiffy.com:
âś… Your updated Basic Business License
âś… The department-stamped Amended RAD Registration Form (Form 2)
âś… (If applicable) The department-stamped RA-3 form
After we receive and verify the documentation, we’ll cancel your RentJiffy Registered Agent service. Otherwise if there are issues preventing us from cancelling your service we will email you with the reason(s) so you can resolve them.
⚠️ Final Reminder
To avoid being charged for the upcoming renewal, all required documents must be submitted before your Registered Agent service renewal date.
If documentation is received after the renewal date, you will be responsible for the next year’s fee.
