How often does a license need to be renewed?

Last Updated: Feb 01, 2012 08:00AM EST
A Rental Property License is good for two years. At the end of two years you should receive a renewal bill from DC Government usually 60-90 days before the renewal date.

We suggest that you check your license for its expiration date and then mark your calendar that 30 days before if you have not received the renewal bill to contact the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs for the District of Columbia. Renewing on time is pertinent and failure to do so can cause late fee penalties of $500 as well as fines for operating without a license. The City considers the renewal bill a courtesy only.
